Obsidian serves as one of Thanos's adopted children and loyal lieutenants, tasked with acquiring the Infinity Stones. He is unwavering in his dedication to Thanos's mission to bring balance to the universe, even through mass destruction.

In Infinity War, Cull Obsidian accompanies Ebony Maw to New York City to retrieve the Time Stone from Doctor Strange. He engages in a fierce battle against Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wong, and Doctor Strange, demonstrating incredible resilience and destructive power. His primary weapon is a massive hammer-like weapon, which he wields with devastating force.

He is eventually defeated and transported away through a portal, though he later reappears during the final battle in Wakanda. He ultimately meets his demise during the conflict when crushed by Bruce Banner wearing the Hulkbuster armor.
